Excerpt from the Articles of the Foundation
The Foundation wishes to participate in the important humanitarian work accomplished by Brother Richard in the service of one of the most disadvantaged categories of Congolese society, namely the sufferers of eye diseases. Brother Richard is a member of the Catholic Community of the Beatitudes and has worked for the past fifteen years as an ophthalmologist in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Brother Richard Foundation for the Sick in the Congo has set as its objective to come to the aid of disadvantaged patients in the country by appropriate measures in the interests of equal opportunity, by giving them access to health care (access to medications, ambulatory care and hospitalization). Its aim is to help and support the development of medical infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of the Congo by participating in the acquisition of specialist equipment, pharmaceuticals and consumables. The Foundation wishes also to foster and support Hungarian-Congolese medical cooperation, as well as to promote the training of medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals working in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
